Competence Evaluation Scales (ACES) |
| Overview: Screen students who are having difficulty learning Age Range: Administration: |
|
This standardised, functional assessment tool has been developed to screen students who are having difficulty learning. School and college-based professionals can identify and prioritise skills that may need work in students who would benefit from early intervention. ACES is an effective means of determining how the student functions in the classroom. Data is collected using:
Teacher Record Forms - ACES summarises all the areas necessary for academic competence from the teacher's perspective, including academic skills, interpersonal skills, academic motivation, study skills, and classroom participation.
Student/College Record Forms - which allows for the evaluation of academic skills and strategic academic behaviours from the student's perspective. It provides an overview of how students see themselves as learners and is designed to complement the teacher's viewpoint.
Together, ACES and Academic Intervention Monitoring System (AIMS) provide an integrated system to determine student needs, develop an intervention plan, and monitor intervention effectiveness.
