CELF Pre-schoolUK and CELF -3UK - UK Standardisation Studies
Dr Ian Peers (Department of Communication Sciences, University of Sheffield) and Dr Peter Lloyd (Department of Psychology, University of Manchester) directed the UK project for both tests. Daily management was undertaken by Miss Caroline Foster, Research Assistant.
The standardisation sample for both tests is representative of the UK population for the appropriate age ranges (3 to 7 years, and 6 to 16 years). The data collection project was one of the most comprehensive ever undertaken in the field of language development in the UK. The respective sample sizes of 588 and 568, coupled with the extensive US data and the long history of development of the CELF measures, the clinician with extremely reliable and valid diagnostic language tools.
Each sample has been stratified according to age, gender, socioeconomic status, ethnicity and geographic region.
Examiners were recruited to cover all UK regions. Extensive training, feedback to examiners and quality control procedures ensure that the UK normative data is of the highest quality.
Extensive validity data, correlations with other language and cognitive measures, detailed psychometric data ensure that both clinicians and researchers can make the fullest use of the comprehensive results obtained from using the CELF-PreschoolUK and CELF -3UK.
