Orpheus is a work-based measure of personality, developed entirely in the UK. Unlike other personality questionnaires, Orpheus is based on the well-established Big Five model, currently recognised as the most stable and well-defined structure of personality. 

The measures provided by Orpheus have been standardised on a wide-ranging, working, UK population and provide benefit for the processes of selection, team-building and personal development. 
Specifically, Orpheus provides measures along the following dimensions:

• Fellowship 

• Authority 

• Conformity 

• Emotion 

• Detail. 

In addition to the Big Five scales, Orpheus also provides an assessment of individual strengths and weaknesses along the following dimensions:

• Proficiency 

• Work-orientation 

• Patience 

• Fair-mindedness 

• Disclosure 

• Loyalty 

• Initiative. 

Orpheus also addresses the issues of lying and social desirability as well as providing other measures of candidate response patterns. When taken together, these factors ensure a more accurate interpretation of scores. 

This measure of personality can now be incorporated with more general ability measures. Since the new Estrado software platform is designed in a modular fashion, you can easily add verbal reasoning (Watson-Glaser Critical Thinking Appraisal UK) and numerical reasoning (Rust Advanced Numerical Reasoning Appraisal). 

Narrative reports 
In addition to a profile across the 12 dimensions and the provision of 4 indicator scores, a full narrative report is available whether Orpheus is administered by paper-and-pencil or computer. This option provides automatic interpretation of scale scores and interactions. Orpheus narratives can be generated by the user on our new Estrado software. Alternatively a bureau service is provided by which Harcourt Assessment scores completed questionnaires and generates both profiles and narrative reports as requested.
