Process Assessment of the Learner™ (PAL™): Test Battery for Reading and Writing |
| Overview:
Examines student's strengths and weaknesses in reading and writing, in order to guide focused intervention
Age Range:
Administration: |
|
Based on the latest research using a neuropsychological model - the PAL is a systematic approach, which examines the underlying processes of a student's strengths and weaknesses in reading and writing, in order to guide focused intervention. Developmentally appropriate subtests can be used to evaluate the component skills necessary for successful reading and writing. Flexible administration procedures mean that the test does not need to be given in its entirety, and instead, the most relevant tasks can be chosen. These include measures of:
- Phonological Processing
- Orthographic Coding
- Rapid Automatised Naming
- Integration of Listening, Note-taking & Summary Writing Skills.
Summary scores indicate the students need for remediation and aid intervention planning. While the PAL compliments classroom instruction, it is not only a school-based test. It can be used in clinical settings to make recommendations to families and schools about student's needs.
